The Balearic Oceanographic Center has reported that a species of marine worm called the “Fire Worm” (Hermodice carunculata) is increasing in the area, likely due to the warming of the Mediterranean.
It is very easy to recognize and is not advisable to touch it, as its surface can cause irritation.
If a “Fire Worm” is seen at any dive spot, we must take note of the area, depth, and number of specimens for registration.
We appreciate the cooperation of all divers!
And remember do not to touch them if you see them!
