SSI Advanced Open Water Diver

SSI Advanced Open Water Diver is the next level of recognition on the way to becoming an SSI Master Diver and includes four specialties

The SSI Advanced Open Water Diver certification is a recognition level awarded after completing four SSI specialty courses and logging a minimum of 24 dives. This certification demonstrates that the diver has gained experience and skills beyond the basic Open Water level and receives the SSI Advanced Open Water Diver certification along with their individual SSI Specialty Program certifications.

The Deep Diving specialty is a mandatory component for earning the Advanced Open Water Diver certification. In addition to Deep Diving, divers can choose from a variety of specialties such as Navigation, Perfect Buoyancy, Wreck Diving, Digital Underwater Photography, Search and Recovery, Enriched Air Nitrox, and more.

The course typically takes at least 3 days, depending on the selected specialties.

  • Good health is essential for diving. Divers over the age of 60 or those with any medical conditions or health restrictions must present a valid diving medical certificate.
  • No flights should be taken until 24 hours after diving. This rule is in place to ensure your safety and to prevent health risks associated with diving and air travel.
